Anyone else keeping up with all the TV hype this week?! News about Game of Thrones, Daredevil, and even True Detective is just flying out all over the interwebs making my head spin … Good TV Is Coming!
Game of Thrones
Let’s just go ahead and get this out of the way shall we, Game of Thrones Season 5 debuts this Sunday promptly at 9 PM. I will not be doing anything but sitting my arse down on the couch and enjoying my all time favorite television show with a huge smile on my face. As if I wasn’t excited enough already – let’s watch a few trailers just to get even more pumped for this:
Game of Thrones Speculation
With everything that has transpired for 4 seasons – what will the characters of Westeros go through in Season 5?
I’ve been hearing much here-say about Tyrion Lannister trying to appeal to Dany’s good graces and help her obtain the Iron Throne. I’ve also been reading rumors that perhaps he’ll be helping Sansa Stark with her situation. (he is, as you all should know, her actual husband)
Speaking of Dany, is she going to get her black dragon, Drogon, under control or is he going to be wreaking havoc? What about her other two dragons that she stowed away in the dungeon, Rhaegal and Viserion…? Will they turn on their mother or will they still be her loyal pets? Is she also going to find the pressures of being a Queen a bit more than she bargained for and have to figure out ways to rule and to take over the Iron Throne? She better get things figured out – winter is still coming … right? (this is the longest wait for a seasonal change I’ve ever seen)
So is anyone else tired of Jamie listening to his bitchy sister/incestual-lover? Jamie needs to man up, dump her ass, and just move on! We’ve seen bright spots to his character and he’s shown that he’s more than just the “king-slayer” that everyone has grown to know him as. I hope we see some development with his character going forward.
Arya & Sansa Stark
Will the sisters ever meet up again? Will Sansa let Littlefinger have his way with her for a greater purpose? I feel that Sansa has some tricks up her sleeves and is waiting for the opportune time to strike back at those that have wronged her and her family. I’m really hoping that Arya will meet the man without a face again and also get even more BA along the way. I wonder what role she will play now that she’s in the same territory as Tyrion. Hmmmmm a chance meet up perhaps?
This dude has been through it all has he not? Despite having half a dozen arrows shot into his back, taking down giants and hordes of Wildlings, Jon Snow is one resilient bastard. (see what I did there) By and by, have you read about the rumor that Jon Snow might very well be a Targaryen? Yeah – go Google that and get back to me on your thoughts there. Blew my mind the first time I read it. (there might be other Targaryen’s out there too … but I’ll save those speculations for another day)
Should we all start placing bets on what the “twist/shocking moment” will be for this season? I have my ideas but I’d rather hear from the readers out there! I could also go on and on about every character that has a key role within the story of the Game of Thrones, but I’ll keep it to those for now and look forward to discussion with other fans of the show.
Not enough? Nope, I didn’t think so either … let’s watch another one!
Break the wheel Dany – crush it – I’m with you all the way!
So, I’m sure that many of my readers don’t fancy themselves comic book fans much less comic book television show fans. Marvel has teamed up with Netfilx to provide us with what I’m going to say is quite possibly the best attempt at a comic book show that Marvel has ever been able to muster thus far. Not only that but I think it’s going to rival DC’s shows – the Flash and Arrow. (takes a lot for me to say that because I love me some team Arrow) When I first heard that they were putting Daredevil together and that it would lead to 3 other shows within the Daredevil MCU, let’s be honest, I was VERY skeptical. Yet, with the marketing doing what good marketing does by showing us bits and pieces of the overall picture of what’s to come – I’ve been impressed. Then out of nowhere we were given a glimpse of the infamous Red Costume (as seen above) that our hero will eventually adorn right before the season premiere! I’m sure he won’t wear it till the season finale but still – it looks fantastic! I’m going to have a hard time trying to keep myself from binge watching the entire season this weekend … who’s with me!?
If you’re on the fence … watch this uber long extended trailer – it gives you a good insight into the key characters Season 1 is going to show us along with the amazing casting of those characters. (personally think that the casting of Wilson Fisk – aka Kingpin is brilliant)
Oh … I’m so in.
The trailer for Season 2 debuted yesterday and gave me “goosies” (J-Lo reference there – yeah I said it) from head to toe. (special shout out to Donald for making sure I saw this in a timely manner) I’ll go ahead and say what everyone else is thinking – it’s going to be EXTREMELY hard for Season 2 to live up to Season 1. The first episode of Season 1 was automatically recorded on the DVR as one of those special HBO series premieres where they say, “hey!!! watch this show!!!” I read the premise and saw the listed actors and almost completely dismissed it. But apparently I had nothing better to do that evening so I watched it and from almost the first moment I was hooked. The intro was enough to pull me in – here watch it:
Still gives me chills …
Anyways, so now we have a completely new story with brand new characters and I’m holding out hope that Nic Pizzolatto is able to put together the same magic as he did before. People keep thinking that Vince Vaughn’s character is the bad guy, but I don’t think it’s that cut and dry. I believe that there’s going to be a lot going on – just as the first season. Anyone care to chime in on the casting for this season? Anyone have any ideas of how things might play out – will there be a tie in at all to Season 1?
For good measure – here’s the trailer that was released yesterday:
A lot of good TV is coming and there is still a lot of good television playing right now. Arrow and the Flash are wrapping up their 23 episode seasons and there’s also talk about how funny The Last Man On Earth is turning out to be. What shows have you all been watching that are worth the time? Has anyone out there finished watching Season 3 of House of Cards? Thoughts or comments on that show are welcome too. (I haven’t watched the last 2 episodes yet … I’m trying to hold off ending the season right now, so spoiler alerts for any discussion please)
I forget, did I mention that Game of Thrones airs on Sunday at 9PM?!
That’s it – let’s discuss.
